Sample tour itinerary
Day 01 London Muscat
Travel from London on your scheduled flight to Muscat. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to you hotel.
Day 02 Muscat
After breakfast at your hotel enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Muscat City.
The tour begins by driving through the beautiful embassy quarter of Muscat en route to Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Visit the mosque, a religious landmark of Muscat and splendour of unique Islamic architecture (Islamic dress code to be observed). The next stop is the BaitAl Zubeir Museum. Then on to Muttrah, a delightful quarter of Muscat , complete with traditional souk and fish market. From Muttrah the drive continues to Muscat Old Town where the tour proceeds on foot, strolling around the palace of Sultan Qaboos and the forts Jalali and Mirani.
Lunch will be taken at a traditional Omani local restaurant
In the evening there will be the opportunity to take a sunset cruise. The remainder of the evening is yours to spend as you wish.
Day 03 Muscat
After breakfast depart from your hotel in 4WD vehicles for an exciting off road adventure.
From Muscat you first head to the coastal town of Quriyat , famous for its beautiful beaches. Then onto a photo-stop at the 'Sinkhole': part of a mountain that has collapsed and filled with sea water. The next destination is Tiwi and the picturesque Wadi Shab with time to wander around its lush vegetation. A Picnic lunch will be enjoyed en route.
Enjoy dinner at the hotel afterwards proceed to a Turtle Beach where you will hopefully be able to watch Turtles laying eggs on the beach. (Depends on the time of year) Return to your hotel.
Day 04 Muscat - Nizwa
Today you can continue to enjoy adventures in your 4x4's and could visit the fascinating Hajar Mountains
to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman's most beautiful wadis (dry river bed), famous for its lush green oases, water pools and deep canyons. The tour proceeds to the Wahiba desert for an exciting dune drive. En route enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continue the journey through the town of Libra. Stop at the village of Mudairib to see its traditional watchtowers, before reaching Nizwa.
Day 05 Nizwa - Muscat
After breakfast you will leave your hotel and return to Muscat.
You will enjoy a visit to the impressive 17th century Nizwa fort. Then on to the souk famous for its Bedouin silver jewellery. The drive continues via Tanuf, a ghost village and today a scene for historical movies. Stop in Bahla with its UNESCO-listed fort under restoration. Bahla is also famous for its potteries. The highlight of today will be the visit to Jabreen Castle , also called the ' Palace of Bilayaroub ', a beautiful fort with ceiling decoration and an impressive architecture.
Continue to Muscat and check in at the hotel
Day 06 Muscat
After breakfast you will be transferred to Seeb International Airport , Muscat for your flight to Khasab.
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
In the afternoon, depart for a half day 4WD safari to Jebel Harim, the highest mountain in Musandam (2087 metres).
The road winds along a ridge with spectacular views into the wadis and foothills. See small settlements utilizing every possible piece of land to develop green fields, picturesquely enclosed by stone walls. The surrounding scenery at Khawr Najd is stunning, a beautiful lagoon with its rocky shore. The last destination is Khalidyah Park , woodland of mainly Acacia and Sisyphus trees, a home of butterflies, birds and grazing animals as well.
Day 07 Muscat
After breakfast at your hotel you could enjoy a full day excursion on a local traditional dhow. Discover the breathtaking scenery of fjords and mountains when crossing through the inlets possibly seeing dolphins. Lunch will be provided on board. Early evening sail back to the harbour and transfer back to your hotel.
Day 08 Muscat - London
This morning you can enjoy a short city tour of Khasab which will include Khasab fort, an interesting museum and wadi tawi to see the pre-historical rock paintings depicting camels, ships and warriors etc.
This afternoon you will drive to Dubai to connect with your return flight to London Heathrow.
